TRADING AGENCY; Yay or Nay?

In Kareem International, we consistently take time to ‘see’ the world and how it is run every day. Then in clear mind, we think about it, do compare and contrast, analysing and questioning here and there. At the end, sometime we found a satire world, a funny contrast, or something that we just smile on it. But the most important thing, after all the process, we also consistently challenge our self, what will be our response on the founding: an activity, a strategy, an action, NOT just a mumbling.

In Kareem International, we always love out of the box thinking. But the most important, we know what the boxes are. It guides us to be out of the boxes only, not out of nowhere!

In our part of the world, the word Trading Agency company often judged as a bad thing, the last choice to trade with. Business community try to avoid to deal with Trading Agency company/person. But when we see how they run their company, they have an OUTSOURCING employee! Not in sales for sure, but in operational or may be the support department. They use the service of outsourcing in simple cleaning service jobs to more completed jobs like warehousing, maintenance, IT and sometime the financial jobs.

Then we have our KAREEM QUSTIONS; if your company have so much outsourcing in various department, why you so irritating to have Trading Agency?

For us trading agency is the same classification as outsourcing, isn’t it?

Because

The basic thinking why you need to outsourcing a function is; because your company want to pay everything based on what you get ONLY. And then try NOT to pay extra benefit like employee health insurance, car gasoline, entertain cost or other extra bill. Accountant always love predicted cost isn’t it? From that basic thinking, company choose outsourcing services.

But why not in selling?

If we read human history, the outsourcing word is a brand new things, but the trading agency is a dame old thing. And as the old thing, you will get stain here and there, even an old diamond will have covered by dust if you never regularly clean it.

That was happening to Trading Agency function. So many bad stories, less professional, took so much margin, refuse to have sales target, never share the market intelligent data, never share the customer profile and just do the job partially (they chase the sales but run away from complaint). All these things create a bad image about Trading Agency.

You better start to evaluate what materials you purchased regularly so far, and what other materials that you can explore to get from Indonesia. You better try to challenge the salesperson who served you in order for them to find other materials on your behalf. But we doubt on that, as their company will not allow them to so.

And then we humbly offering you our services as your BUYER REPRESENTATIVES. As buyer representative, we tied up to your company interest.

 

2. The Manufacturer

You better check which geographical market area that will seems in-efficient for you to handle then directly. And we humbly offering you our services to expand your market in Africa and Middle East. You may be will need OUTSOURCING Sales, we humbly offering you our services to do so. As we daily deal with multi industrial sectors, we hope we can contribute to share another thought to you.

You better check also the point number 3 below. Instead of the top salesman joint your competitor, why don’t you offer them to join Kareem International as our SALES PARTNER, they keep selling your products and they can grow their talent by selling other non-competitive products

 

3. The salesman

This is the most aggressive idea of us.

You, the salesman: prepare your RESIGN LETTER!

Take your time to evaluate yourself, what is the contribution that you already share to your company. Compare and contrast your sales volume VS your salary and benefit. If you are good, you will find it unbalance, you will find that your sales volume contribution is so dame high, but your salary and benefit is just So So.

DO NOT BLAME ANYBODY! Especially your employer.

You may be forgot that the day is not always sun sunny, and your employer still have to pay your monthly check even at the heaviest storm of your life, as long as you are their employee. Most of you will have temptation to move to competitor who can pay you higher, DON’T DO THAT!!

If you are doing a B2B business, you better never do that, never jump directly to your competitor, as you will need to say bad things for things you say good before, and you have to pay good things for things you say bad before.

So what should you do? As you need higher income?

Prepare your RESIGN LETTER, meet your boss, say that you will joint KAREEM INTERNATIONAL as SALES PARTNER.

Say that you need to resign BUT will keep selling the company products and keep the market for them. Say that you will get paid only on commission based.

Say that your boss will no happier than that, because:

  • You will keep selling the company products
  • You will not move to your competitor
  • You only get paid as commission based
  • Your boss will no need to do the non-value added job like checking your daily present on HRIS
